Who can stay cool? heat, energy and Inequality in Europe’s summers

What does the European Green Deal mean in our everyday lives? 

From the energy we use, to the clothes we wear, to the products we rely on, environmental policies are not distant decisions made in Brussels, but they shape our daily routines, our choices, and our wellbeing. But these impacts are not the same for everyone. 

WECF invites you to the final webinar of this series as part of the Imagining a Climate Just Futures Project (ICJF), an interactive session where we bring together key insights and translate them into everyday life. This is not just a recap, but a space to reflect, exchange experiences, and explore how we can navigate environmental challenges in practical and collective ways. 

As summer approaches, we will focus on a growing and shared reality across Europe: heat. 

Heatwaves are no longer limited to Southern Europe. More Europeans are increasingly experiencing heat stress, often without the infrastructure or preparedness to cope. And once again, these impacts are not equally distributed. 

During this webinar, we will explore: 

• How does the European Green Deal influence our everyday practices and choices? 

• How are heatwaves experienced across different regions in Europe? 

• What practical and community-based strategies can help us adapt to rising temperatures? 

Through polls, breakout discussions, and shared reflections, we will connect policy with lived experience and highlight both individual and collective responses. 

We welcome people who would like to: 

• Reflect on how environmental issues affect their daily lives 

• Share experiences of heat, energy use, and adaptation 

• Discuss inequality and environmental challenges in their communities 

• Exchange practical ideas and solutions with others across Europe
